Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
Effective: 2025-11-13
This AUP governs use of the Services: MediaWiki hosting provided by Professional Wiki, including each provisioned Wiki and any APIs or integrations we provide. It does not apply to the public marketing website.
For this AUP: “Customer” is the contracting entity using the Services; “Authorized Users” are individuals the Customer invites to their Wikis; a “Wiki” is a MediaWiki instance we provision for the Customer.
1) Core rules
Use the Services responsibly and in compliance with law. You and your Authorized Users must not:
A. Illegal or rights‑infringing use
- Break the law or infringe others’ rights.
- Upload, post, or link to unlawful content.
B. Security abuse
- Attempt to bypass, probe, scan, or test the security or authentication of the Services without our prior written authorization.
- Introduce malware, ransomware, or spyware; conduct DDoS or similar attacks; run password spraying or brute‑force activities.
C. Service interference & resource abuse
- Abuse or materially degrade the Services (e.g., abusive scraping, automated requests that exceed documented limits, load testing or stress testing without permission).
- Circumvent or attempt to circumvent plan limits, rate limits, or quotas described in our Plans & Limits page.
D. Messaging & spam
- Use any email/notification features for bulk unsolicited messages or marketing campaigns. Notifications should relate to wiki activity.
E. Privacy & sensitive data
- Collect or process personal data in violation of applicable law or without an appropriate legal basis. If you upload special categories of data (e.g., health data), you are responsible for implementing appropriate controls and ensuring the DPA is in place.
F. Misuse & misrepresentation
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation to access another customer’s data; attempt to access content or systems you are not authorized to use.
- Resell the Services as a multi‑tenant platform without our written approval.
2) Customer responsibilities
- You control who can access your Wikis. You are responsible for the actions of your Authorized Users and for configuring roles/permissions appropriately.
- If you make a Wiki or pages public, you are responsible for selecting and complying with the applicable content license and obtaining necessary permissions.
3) Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations. If we reasonably believe a violation occurred, we may (acting proportionately):
- request that you remedy the issue;
- remove or disable access to specific content;
- rate‑limit or temporarily suspend access to the affected Wiki or features; or
- terminate the Services for repeated or severe violations.
We aim to notify the Customer before taking action and to limit actions to what is necessary to protect users, the Services, or comply with law. We may act immediately without notice where urgent (e.g., security incidents, ongoing abuse, or clearly illegal content).
4) Reporting issues
To report abuse, security issues, or AUP violations related to a Wiki, contact us via our support channel. Please include relevant URLs, timestamps, and a description of the issue.
5) Changes
We may update this AUP from time to time. The current version will be posted on our website with an effective date. For material changes, we will provide reasonable notice. Changes will not materially diminish the Services during a committed term without your consent.
